I get great reading material and I can sell off books I no longer want. College and high school students should be able to find a lot of the reading for English classes here. They also have some vinyl albums and things like diaries and other journals at very reasonable prices.
If you're looking for something specific, call ahead to see if they have it.
I am from out of town and I happened upon this gem and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Used bookstores are not typically organized, you get what you get. But this book store was functioning as well as, if not better, than a corporate book store. They had ample stock, it was very neatly arranged, and the prices were great. As an added bonus, the staff was helpful, polite, and cheerful. It was amazing. I will definitely be stopping by here every time I visit KC. Thanks guys!!!

I love Half Price Books. Specifically the stores on in Overland Park and Westport. The selections changes often and the prices are great. The stores are so good I go once a week.
Don't buy new if you can help it, buy used!!
This store falls in a weird category for me. While the books are “half price” they still aren’t super cheap. The selection is much better than thrift stores like Goodwill but books cost $7-10 instead of $1. We’re lucky to have good libraries in the Kansas City area and I prefer to use them instead.
Moreover, friendly helpful staff that makes your journey that much easier.
