This beautiful library in the heart of downtown KCMO is a brilliant example of repurposing a building that has outlived it's original purpose. Converted into a library now, this old bank building even features a theater that used to be a bank vault in the lower level. The collection is pretty good and staff are friendly and helpful.
Awesome library, I had to drive up from Olathe but it was worth it. They have an underground vault (with a small theater), a cafe, and a giant chess set on the roof. The side of the building is decorated like a bookshelf. Great area for kids as well.
