Use to love this location. Now I feel like the YRCW lot next store does everything within their power to ruin the experience. Giant halogen lamps trucks with flashing lights and constant backup alerts.
This drive in is a little rough around the edges. Bathrooms are in need of an update. Our particular screen (3) had no speakers in the last 2 or 3 rows, which only affects people like us that did not want our car radio on. In addition the speaker we did use had a broken volume dial so it was incredibly loud. Charging $10 per adult isn't terrible for 2 movies but I wish it was per carload (especially for families like ours that only stayed for the first movie). Popcorn was about $5 for a HUGE bag. All in all, it was a nostalgic experience, and even though it's not the greatest, I feel like it is trying!! Will definitely be visiting more often.
Ok, listen up, I have lived in Kansas City my entire life. Not that this will matter since they are both ran by the same company but stay away from this place. go to The Twin Drive in theater. So much better. Every time I come to the I 70 drive in I tell myself that I won't ever come back. A year or two passes and I go and remember why i would never go again. First, if you know a movie is going to be super dark the whole time you only have one screen to put it on. The other 3 have lights galore behind it and you can't see a thing. (I watched Insidious and now 47 meters, don't waste your time. you can't see a thing) So STOP putting dark movies at ANY screen but the one by the entrance. I don't know who decides this stuff but they need to be fired. Second, just move the location... It flooded so bad it was dumb. There was literally a foot of water outside the snack and rest rooms. This place has gone downhill and it has NEVER gone up. I know they have more screens so more choices but just suck it up and go to the Twin Drive in... Someone below said this is the only drive in theater in the metro. But not in the greater Kansas City area. the twin is not far from i 70. make the trip. it will be worth it. Trust me...
Awesome place to go. The only downside is the couple of people who come in after the movie starts. Keep close to your car to be safe from these folks.
Total blast from the past! This place is a little rough around the edges but what do you expect when you only pay $20 for your entire family to see two feature films. There is always plenty of parking and the staff is outstanding. They have public bathrooms and concessions or you can bring your own snacks and beverages. Which is a lot better than paying $10 per person for a hot dog at the indoor theaters. If you can bare an occasional whiff of refer it is worth every penny.
