This beautiful park overlooking downtown is great for running, walking, or having a picnic. If you can conquer the steep hill (or drive) to the top it will be worth it. The World War II museum is on the north end of the park and the Federal Reserve is near the south end.

I've only visited the dog park and it's got the basics (bags, dog fountain, trash can, a few picnic tables). There's an area for large dogs & one for small. There's 2 entrances, 1 with a bigger parking lot (at the top of the hill off Wyandotte) 1 with a few parking spaces (at the bottom). Only reason for not giving 5 stars is quite a few ppl don't clean up after their dogs & the middle portion is mostly dirt but that's to be expected with all the pups romping around. I've also only gone in Fall so that might be part of it. It gets the job done though!

I see children here very rarely which is nice as that rule is ignored in a lot of places. Plenty of shade and places to sit. If there is ever an issue it is handled very well by the people at the park.

Pros:

There is no supervision or regular maintenance (but with this big a space it is usually not much of an issue) People smoke here occasionally and I have to keep an eye on my dogs so they don't pick up cigarette butts, they're everywhere especially under the picnic tables.

Our favorite dog park aside from Bar K. It's a huge space and the people are usually very nice.

Pretty good place to take your board or bike or even scooter. Have a good time with the family when we go. Just be nice if tje people are going to drink beer or pop and such to just throw it in the trash

My biggest complaint is that people often take their bigger dogs into the small dog section because they are fearful or reactive to other dogs. I have actually had someone tell me they bring their dog (30 to 40 lbs) to the small dog side because sometimes when a dog wants to play they will attack the other dog and so they didn't want their dog to be the smaller one in the fight. I obviously took my dog and left. This is of no fault of the park, just something to be aware of. My dogs are 70 and 6 lbs and I usually take them both to the big side, we have much fewer issues than when we were taking the little one to the small side.

Cons:

Run down road and area is not very well maintained. Scout statue is terrific- an iconic kc landmark. Great view of the city. A little difficult to get into and out of the park. Some courts available. No concessions or restrooms available.
