Great trails. Lots of variety but lock your car!!! High crime area and I suggest real caution

This place is in the midst of Kansas City yet makes you feel like you are out in the wilderness. I love nature and hiking and camping so I sort of dislike bringing attention I places like this so that it doesn’t get bombarded and destroyed but this place is in the middle of Kansas City... it’s still beautiful and I was delighted to go out here one very cold morning last month.. or earlier this month I decided to come out here to take some self portraits to send to my boyfriend since he is deployed. I truly was having the time of my life just taking photo in the beautiful fall foliage.. I even saw deer.. you can still hear traffic around you which reminds you that you are still indeed in the city but still a great getaway if you don’t have time to drive a little further to a state park.
I moved out here from NC and needless to say that the hiking/biking seen is much different here in MO yet the trails at Swope are some of the most technical I have ever rode. A beginner rider might struggle on Woodchuck but the other trail could be rode by the beginner to the expert and still be enjoyed.
I've been out here a bunch and the trails are absolutely fabulous, but my car and 3 other cars were broken into while we hiked. My best advice is to park on the street and walk to the trails or up by Go Ape.
