I was very pleased with the class. Mike and Ed did a good job adapting to accommodate the various skill levels present in the class, ranging from those with zero riding experience to several who had many years of established bad habits. The pace was very appropriate and absolutely worth my time.
I was at the class that went 2 days over the weekend of April 22 and 23 2017 with my 17-year-old son. I did not need the class, I've been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, however, I took it with him because you're never too old and you're never know too much to learn something and I thought it would make him feel comfortable as well.
It's sad to hear they are no longer. I'm glad I didn't miss my chance
These guys are great. Even as a long time rider, they were able to help boost confidence on unfamiliar bikes.
I felt he was a little harsh in this circumstance, but I did understand and did not think it worth it to discuss the reasons why the phone was being checked with a simpleton like him. The problem came shortly there after when we were waiting for them on one of the mindless drills that they do during this class and I was in a line sitting at stop and not moving at all on motorcycle, awaiting more people to go in front of me to do a silly drill.
One of the two instructors was what seems like a very nice gentleman named m Mike, the experience with Mike was very pleasant and Mike was very easy to deal with. As far as the other instructor, whose name escapes my memory, evidently he never left Paris Island. He thinks that his class is to be run like a Marine Corps Boot Camp. I think he was personally insulted by the fact that I informed him at the beginning of the class that I was a very experienced rider. I did this not to brag, as if bragging to a bafoon like him would mean anything to anyone anyway, but rather to let him know where I was coming from and that perhaps greater attention would be better spent during the class with more of the beginners in the class like my so. rather than me despite what he thought of my riding.
They made me feel very comfortable as a first-time rider. I learned a lot, and I am eager to go back for more classes! Highly recommended! Also, Bob, my instructor, is fantastic!
Shortly thereafter during the class, I was berated by him for taking out my phone during a time when we were not on the motorcycles, nor driving by the way, without any consideration of the reasons that I was keeping close tabs on my phone for messages regarding things like regarding things like, my stepfather dying of cancer, my aunt dying of cancer, my mother experiencing serious health problems, and even my father in law having a heart operation this week, by the way all of these are true and some of the reasons that I need to check my phone frequently. Of course no one ever really cared the reason for anything in the class only that the commanders rules be blindly followed to the letter.
Feeling that it was approaching lunchtime, in fact the time was 1105, I decided while I was waiting to check my watch which is in the pocket of my motorcycle jacket. After checking my watch I observe from afar the instructor's ridiculous walk across the entire tarmac pointing at me. Of course I couldn't hear him and I told him that. When he arrived, he proceeded to scream at me not to be on my cell phone ever. I informed him that it was not a cell phone and he began to scream over me to muffle the fact that I wasn't actually breaking his stupid rule. I did not go on with this and unzipped my pocket and showed him that the only the contents of the pocket were a watch. Well, now he couldn't find himself embarrassed by the fact that his asinine rules were not being broken, so he said I told you it's my rule don't ever take your gear off on my motorcycle and you have your glove off. Of course I had to take the glove off to prove to the jackass that the thing in my pocket was a watch and not a phone but that didn't mean too much to him. Rather than deal with him anymore which likely would've resulted in this silly and self absorbed infant being stood up to and embarrassed in front of his silly little class I merely gave my bike to the one cordial instructor and told him that I am a very successful 48-year-old attorney in this town and I don't need some chickenshit power-hungry motorcycle school instructor screaming at me because it's the only situation in life where he is successful enough to have any authority over anyone.
So unless you like to be treated like that, I would take your business elsewhere and tell everyone else looking for motorcycle training to find it somewhere else as well.
