Very romantic place. They had a jazz singer the last time I was there. They also allowed a local cook/chef to sell her Sunday brunch there once. That was cool. Beautiful place.
The only thing this place has going for it is that the ambiance is spot on. Dim lighting, intriguing ceiling pattern, red interior design that contrasts nicely with the dark furniture, candle light, etc. Another major plus is there's no strict code with bouncers denying anyone access and favoring others; it's an inclusive environment. The bands I did observe were of good quality, so no fault with them. What I can't grasp is why drinks are so expensive for such low quality. Ordered a martini that was grossly unbalanced. The stuff was so strong and poorly mixed, my tongue was numb an hour after consumption. The drink cost about $12, not that it was listed in the menu with a price. Staff were decent, but they charged me twice on accident. The menu is severely lacking in lounge foods that are fairly typical in other lounges I've visited.
It is a Jazz lounge, so don't expect lightning fast service. It's a casual atmosphere, but you should always dress to impress. Don't forget to tip the band, people. They're playing for your entertainment, while also holding regular jobs. I wish I didn't need to explain these things...
Green Lady Lounge is my favorite local Jazz venue with classy decor, good drinks and great live Jazz music. It's a perfect place for date night or to enjoy live music over drinks with friends. The tin ceiling, cozy booths and seating at the bar or tables leave plenty of options. There is a lower level usually open weekends although the music is on the main floor. The Jazz bands are consistently good and not too loud so you can still talk while you enjoy the music.
Live Music, drinks, and a cool setting - this place is great. The ambiance is really what makes it so enjoyable. Last time we went it was really crowded, and we couldn't really find a spot to sit, so we didn't stay too long.
Every time I come here, the experience is amazing. One of the best lounges in KC, and that's saying a lot. Isaac and the team at GLL, never fail to deliver. The music is top notch.
