Always a great place to go to on the Plaza! One of my favorite spots in Kansas City, Missouri. Kona has such a great atmosphere: When the weather is gorgeous dine outside on the patio or sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs in action while you enjoy the tranquility of the massive fish tank! Or, you could take a seat in the cozy dining area and enjoy a meal with family or friends. The food is always great! I recommend the pulled pork sliders and of course you have to try their amazing sushi! And save room for dessert, because their desserts are amazing as well! I love this place! It's great for a quick lunch break too!
Poor service and even more unimpressive sushi. Extremely slow even at a non-rush time. Bartender selling some kind of homemade hooch in Mason jars to other employees while on the clock. Servers and the manager hanging out at the bar while this happened. Manager actually opened the jar to smell it. I would not spend another penny at this chain. A disservice to sushi. Go spend your money down the road at Bob Wasabi’s Kitchen. Bob Shin will fix you up something proper.
The food was excellent. Would like the ice cream scoop with the giant brownie to either be a bigger scoop or two scoops of the current size, but its flavor is great!
Or, run by your neighborhood Hyvee and grab something. I’m sure the sashimi is better quality than Kona’s.
Had a very good stir fry dish! Also tried the pad Thai which was very good also. Excited to go back for more
I liked it but there is no bang for your buck. The chicken chili was good but cold twice.
