Best meal my fiance and I have ever had. Knowledgeable and courteous wait staff. FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE. Be ready to spend some $, it is well worth it.
I was meeting my mother and a family friend before going to see a musical, and I arrived a bit after them. My mother had spilled her water on the table just prior to my arrival, and it seemed to me like the clean-up was effective and timely!
I took my staff here for Christmas dinner. It was a party of about 12. They put a couple tables together for us it wasn't comfortable seating at all. Not only that our waitress was not attentive at all there were things that my guest asked her for that she just never gave them. When I asked her about the lack in service she kept giving the excuse that she was busy. My ticket came up to about 700.00 her tip was 95.00 for that amount she shouldn't have been too busy for me. I spoke with the manager who has yet to rectify this situation. I could have taken them to Applebees spent less than half of what I spent with these people. I am very disappointed with my experience. For this kind of money there should never be a lack in service.
Our waiter, Joe, was one of the best I've had at any restaurant. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, the restaurant, the wine... everything. He was very attentive and extremely courteous.
I don't eat red meat too often, and found the menu slightly limited for options other than red meat that seemed appetizing to me (again, personal preference).
There are also a couple vegetarian options if one of your party happens to be vegetarian but one comes here for the old style jazz ambiance and good steak.
Downstairs is a secluded dinner spot where tables are gathered up against live jazz. The food is great - and steak is their speciality - but fairly pricey as you might expect. Reservations are highly suggested especially for downstairs.
I am currently a server at the restaurant on the Country Club Plaza in KC and have been working in the restaurant industry for nearly 7 years, so I have much experience with different styles and levels of service when it comes to wait staff.
Only negative is we were sat downstairs next to the bar. A very loud party was at the bar and I had butts touching me. Wait staff told them multiple times to be respectful of near by tables. They compted our dessert without us even asking.
Service was good. I ordered my steak medium rare, it came out medium well. Another person ordered medium well and it cam out well done. So 2 out of 3 steaks weren't cooked right. We sent one back and I gave my medium well steak to the person who ordered it that way. My second steak came out cooked more on the rare side (which is good for me). The did end up taking off 50% on the steaks that weren't cooked right. Overall, the experience was worth what I ended up paying, but if you are at a steakhouse that charges $60 for a steak, you, it should be right the first time. The sides were good and the steak soup was excellent.
A Kansas City tradition the majestic is a historic jazz dinner club that has two levels. Upstairs is a classic steak house with a upscale ambiance.
I love this restaurant. I've only dined here a handful of times, but I have always dined in the basement because I love the live jazz music. The musicians are always top-notch. Sometimes I feel the musicians should play music that is more subdued and slow, but that is personal preference.
I couldn't recommend our waiter, Joe, highly-enough, and I will definitely be back. Dined on Friday, 11/10/2017
