I was extremely excited when I heard Kansas City was going to have a PREMIER luxury bar & lounge! The Monarch did not disappoint. The sexy atmosphere along with the innovative cocktails and delicious small plates makes this a MUST GO spot! Not only are the menu items yummy but the customer service from the GM, bartenders and servers were first-class! By far one of my favorite places to frequent.

What a great atmosphere, unlike anywhere else in KC. The drinks are very unique and provides a diverse selection for those that like sweet drinks (me) to those wanting the more stronger drink. My favorite is the Carriage Club, I've had it on three separate occasions and each time it's been consistent and delicious. The food is diverse too - ranging from popcorn to pigs in a blanket. All are yummy. It's a must go for any age.

Just what the plaza needed. This upscale bar is where it's at. Everything from the story line in the drink menu to the reflections on the ceiling were meticulously thought through.

I recently had the distinct pleasure of enjoying an evening at The Monarch with a friend. After a little time downtown, we decided to head to the Plaza, and called ahead to see if there was room available. When we arrived, the patio area was pretty full (with heaters going). Heading inside, the main bar is open and modern, yet classic, with white granite and beautiful glass accents. The craft cocktail menu is extensive and exquisite. The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The atmosphere is classy and comfortable, not stuffy. This is one of the hottest places in Kansas City right now, and I suspect that it will be around for a long time. Kenny has created a legendary nightlife spot in the making. My company and I were invited back to the private lounge, called The Parlour, and were treated to a personal evening with Mr. Cohrs. There is a special menu for The Parlour, which will change 4-6 times a year. Currently, it has 8 drinks based upon the works of Edgar Allen Poe, with detailed descriptions and graphic works by a local artist.
We had a great experience at Monarch. We went on a night that was extremely busy, and I had a great server that took great care of me. I wanted to try something new...told her what type of cocktails I liked, and she brought back an unexpected drink that I loved. Beautiful space with so much attention to detail. Looking forward to our next visit!
