First time visit to Menard's and I look forward to the next visit. The store is spacious, bright, and the music is an added pleasure. The employees were friendly and any questions we had (my partner and I) they were more than happy to help. Due to the size of the store finding what you need may be overwhelming at first. However, just ask an employee and they will lead you to the correct department. I had a question regarding Drill Bits and Jacob (an employee) patiently answered my questions. In addition, he helped me find the right product that was priced less than Lowe's. This store has everything from groceries, clothes, to home improvement items. Read the number markers on the aisles to navigate your way around the store.
These people seem to think they are entitled to search your vehicle when you leave. They wanted me to let them search my trunk while they were holding me in their secured area, despite the fact that I was with their employees the entire time I was there. They politely forget to tell you when you go in the compound that they intend to do a search when you leave. I refused, they let me out anyway.
MASSIVE selection of EVERYTHING. This is truly a one stop shop. You can get anything here. This is the largest big box store I have ever been in or ever will be in. The prices on things I've seen are really reasonable as well. I don't know why everybody doesn't shop here. It is amazing.
The whole experience has devolved into a nightmare. I wish I'd never set foot in the store.
After looking into it further I discovered Menards has no policy in place for dealing with issues that are clearly their fault. I cancelled the order but am now being told I will have to pay a 25% restocking fee on the tub we never took delivery on.
The real inconvenience is we had to make arrangements to borrow a truck from our neighbor to pick up the items.
We purchased a tub and shower wall kit from them. Within two weeks the tub arrived, minus the walls. They called us in to pick them up but because the order was incomplete I did not want to take delivery and have a tub sitting in my garage, displacing my car.
Love this store!! Great Customer Service...And their prices seem to be very competitive.They have a wonderful selection.. we have found items there that we have been looking for in “ the other stores” for a long time.
A few days ago they said everything was in, come pick it up, so we again borrowed the truck only to find out after we got there that the walls arrived damaged and were returned. I understand these things happen, but nobody bothered to tell us not to come in so more time wasted.
The real rub came when I called to speak to the general manager to suggest after two such mishaps I felt we were entitled to have the items delivered. All the man repeated over and over was "We don't do free delivery..". He said it didn't matter how many times I came in to pick it up and it wasn't ready, there weren't going to fix the issue. After repeating this a few time he said he was done talking to me and hung up.
I discovered that if you want any building materials, you must place your order for stuff sight unseen, then drive around back, clear security to get in and load, then beg to get out again by letting them strip search your car for purposes unknown. That's right! They don't give an excuse, they just state that "We need to search your car. OPEN THE TRUNK!"
Don't bother making an online order. It is a waste of time, because the order will be billed to your charge card, but won't be sent to the store. When you go to the store with your paid confirmation receipt, they will deny your order and tell you it never happened. At least that is what happened to me. Now I have to protest the fraudulent charges at my bank. I will grudgingly admit that their staff was quite pleasant the whole time and tried to solve the problem...unsuccessfully.
It doesn't matter that you have already given them your receipt and they can see the material you purchased in plain sight.
Customer satisfaction is near the bottom of their list, just check their ratings on consumer affairs.
