DEAD END JOB WITH BAD UNION REPS!
During your first year of employment you have NO vacation time and you have NO sick days! This is not competitive with the KC job market. If you miss 8 full days in your first year you will be terminated. You do not receive vacation time until your one year anniversary, and you only get one week! You don’t get two weeks of vacation until your third anniversary with the company! Again this is not competitive with other manufacturing jobs in Kansas City. Did I mention this place is horrible?
Just last week we renewed our union contract (Steelworkers Union). The company’s first offer to us was terrible in my opinion, but was overwhelming approved for two reasons.
Your first 60 days of employment you are in a probationary period. During this period you can not be late or absent, and if you are you will be fired. Lots of people don’t make it past the probationary period.
Excellent Company to work with
This review is being posted 11/26/17 and refers to the Kansas City Milbank manufacturing plant jobs. It does not refer to the Milbank Corporate offices.
The other Google reviews were written by people who DO NOT work in the manufacturing plant. I do (unfortunately).
The second reason the terrible contract got approved is because a majority of the people who work here are just plain dumb and weak. That is not an exaggeration and it is not “mean”. A majority of the union workers in the assembly dept. voted YES to a 34 cent raise, an increase in cost of their medical insurance, and no signing bonus. I'm serious. The increase in our medical insurance almost cancels out our small raise. Any educated person knows that you never accept a first offer in any negotiation. You have to be willing to fight to get what you need, the company will never just give you anything. Most of the union employees were actually worried about a strike/lockout situation! The few employees who are intelligent and strong-willed were willing to go on strike/lockout, because that is how you get what you need from a company, you have fight for it. What I’m trying to convey is that if you work here you will be working with people that you can not depend on to fight with you. They will actually go against what is best for everyone’s future. Do you want to work with people who are dumb and weak? Then come to the Milbank Manufacturing Plant.
The first reason is that our union “reps” did not protect and stand up for us. During our union meeting to vote on the contract not one of our reps who works in the plant stood up and said anything critical about the offer, and they should have. Their silence is proof that they favored the lousy contract. Most likely they received bonuses with the approval of the contract as this is a common practice by unions. So our reps kept their mouths shut so that the people they are suppose to represent would vote yes and they could line their own pockets. Our union reps are selfish, greedy, and immoral.
The starting pay for the manufacturing plant is $17.00/hr. Sounds great right? Don’t fall for it. This is a horrible place to work. Most people who get hired get hired into the assembly dept. because that is by far the largest dept. as far as number of employees. The top-out pay for the assembly dept is $17.40/hr. So you start out at $17 and go up to $17.40! THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF A DEAD END JOB! Yes there are other departments and some have higher top-out pay, but there is only a small number of those jobs and those jobs are mostly occupied by high seniority employees so your chances of getting one is slim.
