The food is mediocre at best. The cooks have NO idea how to properly cook a steak. When I say medium, I expect medium at a steak restaurant. There idea of medium is more of a medium well with VERY little pink, if any at all. Anyone knows that medium means warm with a pink center. The side dishes have no flavor at all. Don't bother ordering a caesar salad, as what you will get will be mixed salad greens with an obvious bottle sauce that is just plain gross.
The decor was quite nice though.
I was taken to the steakhouse last night for my birthday. Our waiter was Sam and he was unfriendly, not at all helpful & rude. He gave us the impression we weren't classy enough. Asked to refill my drink, not my companion. Had to ask twice for more butter. I ordered the 11 oz prime rib & it was flavorful, but very thin & looked more like 8 ounces. We asked for dessert tray & he brought it out & stood there. Didn't offer to name or describe the choices. We had to ask what the bread pudding was & he still did not name them. My experience previously was great & prime rib was huge. Will not be returning.
Don't waste your money eating here, unless you are stuck at the casino with no transportation. KC is known for the amazing steak restaurants. For the price you pay here, you can get a real steak dinner, just down the road.
The food was simply mediocre at this price point. The steak was bland and required enhancements of sauces and toppings. The braised ribs tasted like they came from a plastic package, microwaved and tossed onto the plate. Uninspired and completely overpriced.
I do not understand the negative reviews here at all!! We went here at 5pm on a Sunday. With reservations at 5:30, even, they were able to seat us early. The waitress was delightful and funny, everyone was very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The steak and creme brûlée rivaled that of Chris Ruth's. I highly recommend this place to everyone and enjoyed the dinner.
Just plain BAD!
I can tell you that nothing stands out here as good. The service is really bad, and I mean bad. The servers here have NO idea what items are on the menu, and what can be substituted. They seem more concerned about what they are doing after work, than being at work.
On Yelp, this place was averaging 4 out of 5 stars. I am convinced that diners in the area simply lack a sense of taste. Ratings here seem to be more accurate and in line with our experience.
This place is just plain overrated!
Overall, we were disappointed at how sad the wait staff looked and felt, at the mediocrity of the food given such a nice setting, and given the prices we were paying.
I won't go over every reason that this food outlet is bad, because it would be ONE long review if I did.
The service was slow, sloppy, and downright rude. Some waiters were way too unpoised and crude for the price points of this restaurant, other waiters look like they would rather jump off a bridge. Waiters didn't smile, didn't greet guests, didn't offer any assistance throughout the meal, and didn't even look at guests when speaking with them. Hey management, your people are miserable!
We have been going here for years. They have a new chef and the changes that have been made to our favorites are not good. The filet use to be awesome. Now they raised the price and put a " red wine demi sauce" on it. Tastes like they poured A1 on it. The mushrooms were way too salty. I also liked the old dressing on the salad and the iceberg lettuce instead of the romaine and greens they use now. The shrimp my wife had were very good.
Not recommended, and will not return even if you paid me.
