I wish I took pictures of the amazingly delicious food, but we had been on the road for hours and ate it up so fast it's not even funny! We got the full rack & a pulled pork sandwich. Both were awesome! We also had a lot of sides - our favorites being the fries, baked beans and cole slaw (which said spicy on the menu but wasn't). We also got rice and beans which were very spicy! They do not have mac and cheese, maybe that's not a Kansas thing. Anyway, there were four of us and everyone ate a bunch ... and there were still ribs left. Crazy!! Good, but crazy!
$14 for three ribs, pulled pork, and a side - not a bad price at all for what you get. Beer is $5 a bottle.
This was a great experience! Ribs and pulled pork were fantastic, along with their in house sauce. BBQ beans were also unique and flavorful. Coleslaw and potato salad weren't anything special, which was a bit disappointing.
The Z-Man was the most popular item for the night I was there (which I got) and tasted great! We also got pulled pork, BBQ beans, and apple crisp for dessert. You won't be disappointed with the wet style KC BBQ.
Literally in an old gas station! We went at 6pm on a weeknight and the line was to the door, can't imagine what weekends would look like. You can't grab a seat until after you order but it seemed to all work out with people leaving when you're looking for a seat. If you don't want to risk it, they take phone orders for pick up.
Joe’s is one of the best BBQ joints in town. They’ve won major contests like American Royale and have all the cred. Great food, rolls of paper towels on the tables, just the right music and simple décor. It hits all the right notes. Located in a building which is a combination gas station, convenience store, and barbecue joint all in one, it's a quintessentially Kansas City experience. Due to the popularity, be prepared for long lines at certain times.
You will not go wrong here. Ribs are fantastic with a great savory rub. They don’t need sauce. Fries have a great seasoning on them. Brisket is among the best - tender and juicy. The hidden gem for me is the red beans and rice. Absolutely great. If you’re not feeling like meat, try it out!
